However, in a follow up, they announced that they'd contacted a wildlife rehabilitator to try and help the swan.
"We contacted Dal Donoher who is a Wildlife Rehabilitator and he has taken the Swan to Kildare to access him and hopefully release him into another colony," said the WSPCA.
"Thanks to everybody that commented and left suggestions on how to deal with the Swan. We'll update again when we have more news."
Swans are one of the few birds who mate for life, with couples raising cygnets together and learning from their mistakes each time. While they generally stay together all their lives once they bond, there are some occasions when they'll take new partners, such as if they've a failed nesting season or if one of the pair dies.
