PICS: Car catches fire and causes serious delays on the M50

Conor Heneghan

The car caught fire close to Junction 14 on the M50 on Saturday afternoon.

Motorists have been advised to drive with extreme care on the M50 after a car caught fire on the M50 Southbound close to J14 Leopardstown on Saturday afternoon.

The left lane of the motorway was blocked for a time as the Dublin Fire Brigade dealt with the car, with heavy delays occurring as a result.

No injuries have been reported but motorists on the M50 have been advised to drive with extreme care; the fire had originally been dealt with by the Dublin Fire Brigade but caught fire again, causing the left lane of the motorway to be closed off once again.
