Fair play to the Whelan family from Cabra.
We hope that the Whelan family from Cabra in Dublin are in for a great Christmas, given the generosity they showed this week by giving away a prize they had won of €1,000 for their house’s elaborate decorations.
Having won the prize from Energia by getting people to like the picture of their own winter wonderland on social media.
Once they had collected the cash, they quickly turned it around by donating it to the Friends of St. Luke’s, a fundraising effort for St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network in Dublin.
Emma Whelan tells us, “We won the money from Energia by asking people to like the picture of our house on their page and overall we recieved 4.4k likes!
“Our family picked Friends of St Luke’s because it is close to our hearts and, because of them, our family can spend another Christmas all together this year. No better gift.
“Plus we got to help out an incredible charity. Our family consists of my Mam – Phyllis, Dad – Liam, four boys – Liam, Darren, Philip and Stephen and two girls Lisa and myself Emma. Altogether we make 2 grandparents, 6 children and 12 grandchildren.”
