A big crowd…
Protesters in Dublin are staging a sit-down protest on O’Connell Bridge as part of the Take Back The City rally highlighting the housing shortage.
Crowds gathered at the Garden of Remembrance on Saturday, before marching down O’Connell Street and stopping on O’Connell Street Bridge.
Over 1,000 people are thought to be involved in the protest.

Protesters have also occupied a premises in Crumlin as part of the day of action and have other events taking place around the country on Saturday.
Take Back The City campaigners are calling for an end to evictions in Dublin and around Ireland, and they want vacant lots and properties to be issued compulsory purchase orders to help ease the housing crisis.
Writing online before the event, the Take Back The City movement said:
“Things are speeding up.
“The housing crisis is an islandwide problem. It affects different areas in different ways, but has similar causes and effects. This is why a strong, supportive movement across the entire island is so important.
“It’s time for the movement to grow. We’re calling on grassroots groups, housing activists, community groups nationwide to take action in their own areas. Actions could be anything from pickets, info stalls, door Knocking, protests, creative action to occupations.”
