A small plane has crashed into Beijing’s CITIC Tower skyscraper, the tallest building in Beijing.
The incident was captured on video that have been circulating on social media, showing debris from the aircraft falling to the ground.
Meanwhile, another video shows the impact site where multiple windows had been smashed by the impact.
However, damage remained minimal.
The incident happened in the Chinese capital at around 6pm local time (11am BST) today (Friday, 26 June).
Reports say that police arrived at the scene and subsequently evacuated the building.
The remnants of the aircraft fell hundreds of metres from the 109-storey tall building.
The charred tail section of the plane was found on the ground.
It reported that the pilot was flying solo and had taken off from Shifosi Airport just half an hour earlier.
It added that the aircraft was planning on returning to the airport, but deviated from the flight path.
Flight monitoring tracked the plane until it lost signal in the area of Beijing’s East Fifth Ring Road.
The aircraft then lost contact and could not be reached.
The number of casualties is not known.
This is a breaking news story, updates to follow.
Reports from Global.hk say that authorities asked to delete photos and videos and no official statement has been released as of yet.
