Plane crashes near Belfast Airport with emergency services at the scene

The latest from Belfast.

A light aircraft has crashed near Nutts Corner – 2/3 miles near the vicinity of Belfast Airport – and burst into flames. UTV reporter Judith Hill is at the scene and said that, “Emergency services are here, air ambulance has just flown away.”

Three ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic and the air ambulance were present at the site of the crash.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it received a call just before 12.30pm on Thursday.

A spokesperson for Belfast Airport said that the Airport is fully operational and that the flight wasn’t intended to land there.
