The crash was caught on camera

The moment a private jet crashed and erupted into a huge fireball following an emergency landing has been caught on camera in harrowing footage.

Both pilot and co-pilot were killed in the incident which happened yesterday (7 June).

The harrowing footage has been going viral online as the crash was caught on camera.

The incident happened at La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic which saw the jet touch down next to the runway on the grass with the rear landing gear not extended.

The plane proceeded to bounce before exploding into a fireball.

The pilot and co-pilot were killed in the incident, according to Dominican newspaper El Día.

They have been named as American nationals Erick Javier Diago and Rudy Ghazal.

No passengers were reported to be on board.

The US-registered private jet was a Gulfstream G200, an executive jet manufactured in 2004 by Israel Aircraft Industries.

The Mirror reports that the aircraft belonged to Aibonito Aviation LLC, a private aviation company based in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The aircraft is reported to have the registration number N318JF, and was supposedly en route to Austin, Texas before declaring an emergency while approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of La Romana.

It was forced to return to the airport where the incident happened.
