Alabama woman charged

This is a bizarre case.

A 27-year-old woman in Alabama has been indicted for manslaughter after losing her unborn baby in a shooting.

Marshae Jones was not the shooter and was shot in the stomach by another woman, but it was Jones who was arrested this week.

She was charged with manslaughter and released from jail on Thursday after posting $50,000 bond, according to the authorities and the website of Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office in Alabama.

The police have said she was culpable because she started the fight that led to the woman shooting her in the stomach and failed to remove herself from harm’s way.

The woman accused of shooting her walked free.

“The investigation showed that the only true victim in this was the unborn baby,’’ Pleasant Grove police Lt. Danny Reid said at the time of the shooting, according to AL.com.

“It was the mother of the child who initiated and continued the fight which resulted in the death of her own unborn baby.”

According to police, the argument began over the unborn child’s father, and resulted in Ebony Jemison eventually shooting Jones, leading to her miscarriage.

Jemison faced a manslaughter charge that was dismissed after a grand jury failed to indict her, AL.com reported.

Police said Jones allegedly started the initial argument and endangered her baby’s life and she would therefore face similar charges.

They also alleged that Jemison was forced to defend herself from Jones.
