Remember that Marriage Referendum thingymebobber?
You know the one; it was that day back on 22 May 2015 which just happened to mark one of the most historic moments in this country’s history, as we all voted on the right of same-sex couples to marry.
The amendment passed a referendum by a margin of 62%-38% , but faced delays before it could be signed into law. Those delays, which came in the form of a number of challenges raised against it by eejits, were struck down at a high court hearing.
Although that momentous occasion took place just over three months ago, the law itself has only been made legal by President Michael D. Higgins today, as he signed into law the Thirty-fourth Amendment of the Constitution (Marriage Equality) Bill 2015 at Áras an Uachtaráin.
Congratulations everyone, Marriage Equality in Ireland is now official.
