Primark offering Covid vaccines to shoppers this weekend in UK

Ellen Fitzpatrick

Penneys really has it all.

Shoppers in some Primark stores in the UK will be able to get their Covid-19 vaccine while picking up some summer clothes this weekend.

Primark stores in Leeds and Bristol are becoming pop-up vaccine centres this weekend as the NHS announced two of the stores will be giving out first doses of the vaccine.

Broadmead Shopping Centre in Bristol and the Trinity retail centre in Leeds are the two Primark locations shoppers will be able to get their vaccine.

NHS medical director for primary care Dr Nikki Kanani said: “You can pop into Primark, enjoy the sun in the park, and explore the art at the Tate, while also protecting yourself and your loved ones by getting a vaccine this weekend.

“From high street shops to mosques and sports grounds, our incredible staff together with our wonderful volunteers are doing all they can to make sure it is easier than ever for people, particularly young adults, to get protected.”

As restrictions in the UK are set to lift on Monday, the government is aiming to get as many people vaccinated as possible to maximise protection.

With a series of pop-up clinics showing up across the country, they are aiming to get those who have not taken up their vaccine offer to get it now.

Parks across southwest London will also have pop-up clinics, with Greenwich Park participating too and Liverpool’s Sefton Park.

The Tate Modern art gallery on London’s Bankside is where the real party is when it comes to these pop-up clinics as a DJ will be playing some tunes while people get vaccinated this evening.

Meanwhile, in Ireland from today, 25 to 29-year-olds can register to receive an MRNA Covid-19 vaccine at a vaccination centre through the HSE portal.
