Met Éireann has issued an extended rain and thunderstorm warning which applies to 15 counties. Initially issued just for the provinces of Connacht and Munster, the Status Yellow warning was updated on Friday night (24 June) to also include Kildare, Laois, Offaly and Westmeath. The updated alert took effect just after 9pm on Friday and is currently scheduled to be in place until 6pm on Saturday. Met Éireann says in the warning that "heavy showers or longer spells of rain with thundery downpours" in some parts of the country may lead to spot flooding. It also states that the highest rainfall totals are likely to be near the west coast on high ground. https://twitter.com/MetEireann/status/1540435065334890506
