The weather forecast appears to be very much a mixed bag this weekend, as Saturday night is set to be a washout in some counties in the south of the country.

Met Éireann issued a rainfall warning on Friday afternoon for Wexford, Cork, Kilkenny and Waterford, which is valid from Saturday 26 May at 9pm to Sunday 27 May at 6am.

“Heavy thundery downpours are expected at times Saturday evening/overnight with local falls of 25 to 35mm possible,” the forecast reads.

This warning is, however, in stark contrast to Saturday’s weather forecast around the country, which will see a mix of cloud and hazy sunshine throughout the day with temperatures ranging from 17 to 23 degrees.

Sunday is set to begin warm and humid with highest temperatures ranging between 18 and 23 degrees.

Central and northern areas in Ireland will benefit from the highest temperatures, with southwestern counties set to experience slightly lower temperatures due to onshore breezes.

The rest of next week is set to remain the same, with warm temperatures and changeable weather expected.

Some thundery showers will once again break out in parts, with southern counties most at risk.
