Researchers have discovered the perfect time to post a selfie to Facebook

Timing is everything

Breaking the internet for beginners.

Researchers at Klout have discovered that Facebook users can increase the popularity of their Facebook posts by 17% if they post them at the right time.

Klout studied the behaviour of over half a million Facebook users and 144 million posts, finding several similarities across five major cities.

The main thing to avoid is posting on weekends – people are far more likely to respond when they’re at work or school.

People aren’t interested in your selfies when they’re enjoying the weekend, but Facebook uploads are a much more welcome distraction when people hit a slump during the working week.

According to the results generated by users in London, New York and San Francisco, the optimal time to post something to Facebook is between 9am and 3pm between Tuesday and Friday.

Responses drop off once people leave work everywhere except for Tokyo, where Facebook-users are disciplined enough to do their social media skulking on their own time.

Klout also revealed that, on average, 50% of Facebook responses (Likes, Shares and Comments) occur within two hours of the the original content being posted.

This means that your Facebook fanbase has a rather narrow window for stroking your online ego.
