RTÉ exit poll results on Presidential Election and Blasphemy Referendum revealed

No MAJOR surprises, to be honest…

On Friday night’s episode of The Late Late Show, the RTÉ Red C Exit Poll results were revealed.

It was announced that due to the usual circumstances surrounding exit polls, the margin of error is somewhere between 3% and 4%.

Those who were polled were asked the following questions.

Which of these candidates did you give your first preference vote to?:

Higgins – 58%

Casey – 21%

Ni Riada – 7%

Freeman – 6%

Gallagher – 6%

Duffy – 2%

Did you vote in favour or against to amend the constitution for blasphemy?

Yes – 71%

No – 26%

Didn’t Vote – 2%

Decline To Say – 1%

Those polled were also asked why they voted the way they did, but those results were not yet revealed.

It does also look like that it might have been the lowest voter turn out since the 1997 election, with it estimated that well below 50% of the voting population attending the polls.

Additionally, the Irish Times poll revealed similar results, with Michael D. Higgins getting 56% of that poll, followed by Peter Casey with 21%.

Similarly, their poll revealed that the Blasphemy Referendum exit poll is predicting a 69% win in favour of changing the constituion.
