Scarlett Faulkner's brother, Jason Faulkner, has died days after being a pallbearer at his sister's funeral.
Jason, 30s, was from Longpavement Halting Site in Limerick, and carried his sister's coffin during her funeral on Friday, 17 April.
Scarlett died three weeks after being allegedly assaulted with an iron bar on the side of the R494 road near Birdhill in Tipperary.
The young mother died after her life support was switched off last Monday, 13 April at Cork University Hospital.
The body of her brother, Jason, was recovered from a river in Limerick on Sunday, gardaí said.
“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident at the Abbey River, Limerick," a Garda spokesperson said.
“Shortly after 5pm, gardaí were alerted to a body in the water. Fire services removed the body of a man, aged in his 30s and he was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
“A postmortem will take place in due course.”
Melissa McCarthy, the cousin of Jason and Scarlett, confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media.
"My heart, 2 days after burying your sister Scarlett, your [sic] gone now Jason, her lovely brother. The laughs we had, oh Jason what are the family gonna do? I can't get my head round it, no doubt Scarlett Faulkner was there to meet you - together again forever," she wrote online.
"Please keep my aunt Mary and Banny and family in yere [sic] prayers."
