Met Éireann have extended their Status Red Snow and Ice warning to the entire country.
The warning was issued at 11pm on Wednesday and is valid until 3pm on Friday.
Under orders from the government and the Minister for Education Richard Bruton, all schools and third level institutions will close due to the red weather warning.
Writing on Twitter, Bruton said:
"UPDATE: Status red has now been issued for all counties with immediate effect. All schools, third level institutions and colleges of further education will be closed tomorrow and Friday
