A settlement was reached.

A settlement has been agreed in the case of the Berkeley balcony collapse of June 2015, which killed five Irish students and one Irish-American student.

Blackrock and Greystar, the companies responsible for owning and managing the Library Gardens property, agreed to pay an undisclosed settlement to the families of those who died, as well as the seven other Irish students who were injured in the collapse.

Eoghan Culligan, Nick Schuster, Lorcán Miller, Eimear Walsh, and Olivia Burke were the five Irish students who died as a result of the collapse. Olivia Burke’s Irish-American cousin Ashley Donohue also died in the incident.

In April of this year the company who built the balcony, Segue Construction, had its contractor license revoked by the California State Contractors License Board. Along with Segue, a further six companies, involved in designing and constructing the building, were involved in a settlement of May this year. Those companies were Northstate Plastering, R Brother Waterproofing, Abacus Project Management, IRC Technologies, TCA Architects and LS Mason and Associates.

In both cases, the value of the settlement has not been disclosed.
