Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for seven counties.

Published on Monday morning (9 January), the alert will be valid from 3am to 3pm on Tuesday.

It applies to the province of Munster, as well as Galway, and reads: “Spells of rain overnight and on Tuesday will be heavy at times leading to spot flooding.”

Meanwhile, Met Éireann’s national forecast for Tuesday says it will be a “dull, wet and windy” day with widespread rain, fresh to strong southwesterly winds and possible spot flooding.

This is before the rain will clear into the Irish Sea during the evening, with clear spells and showers following from the west.

Temperatures will be mild, ranging from 10 to 13 degrees.

As for its outlook for the following days, Met Éireann states: “Low pressure will keep our weather unsettled through the week.

“It will be windy at times with frequent showers and rain.”
