They are looking for an adviser that every college should have.

Cambridge University has put an advert on the internet looking for someone to fill their new role of sexual assault and harassment adviser.

It will be a part of the counselling service in the University and will “bolster the advice and support available to a student.”

In a report from 2015, it was found that 11% of women students believed they were sexually assaulted in college in Ireland and having a position like this in colleges around Ireland would be extremely beneficial.

According to the BBC,  Cambridge University’s successful applicant will work with the police, the local sexual assault referral centre and Cambridge Rape Crisis.

They will work individually with students and will also be responsible for designing and running workshops for staff from time to time.

Most of all, the adviser will offer a source of specialist, emotional and practical support to students following sexual harassment or sexual assault.

The Adviser will offer consultation when requested to those within the University who have pastoral responsibilities for student welfare.

The new position has a salary of up to £37,183 which works out at around €40,000.
