Man injured following shooting incident in Louth

Investigations are ongoing.

A man has been charged in connection with a shooting incident in Louth on Friday morning (1 July).

The incident occurred in Dundalk at approximately 4.30am.

A man in his 30s was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes in Drogheda to receive treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Later on Friday, a man in his 20s was arrested in connection with the incident.

The man was detained at Dundalk Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, and has since been charged.

He is due to appear before a special sitting of Drogheda District Court at midday on Sunday (3 July).

Investigations are ongoing.
