Make Friday good again.

This coming Good Friday will mark the first time in 90 years that Irish pubs are permitted to sell alcohol following the change in licensing laws earlier this year.

To celebrate this historic event, Slattery’s Pub in Beggars Bush in Dublin has committed to “keeping the ‘Good’ in Good Friday” by giving all of the bar’s proceeds from the day to Our Lady’s Hospice Care and the 4th Port Dodder Sea Scout Group.

The sponsorship of these two charities will begin when the pub opens at 12.30pm on Friday 30 March, and will remain in place until close at 12.30am.

Commenting on the decision to donate all proceeds, publican Irial Slattery said: “We wanted to do something constructive for the area on our first Good Friday with a drinking licence.

“While people have mixed views on the ban lift, we thought taking the opportunity to support groups close to our hearts would preserve the day as a positive.”
