Allison Mack trial

She was arrested on charges last year.

Actress Allison Mack pleaded guilty Monday to charges she was involved in a scheme to turn women into sex slaves for a cult-like group.

The former Smallville actress pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and racketeering relating to her alleged role in the sex trafficking case.

Mack was arrested last year and charged for her alleged involvement with an organisation called Nxivm, a group that claimed to be a self-help program but was actually a pyramid scheme.

Her guilty plea means that Mack will avoid going to trial with three others who have all pleaded not guilty to wrongdoing in the case.

Leader of NXIVM Keith Raniere was also arrested in Mexico on 26 March last year and also faces charges of sex trafficking.

Mack, best known for her role as Clark Kent’s friend Chloe on CW’s Smallville, was indicted on charges last year of sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy, according to a statement released by the Justice Department.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges at the time.
