Snow is on the way in some parts of Ireland today

Along with a lot of rain, we're afraid

Conor Heneghan

It’s beginning to feel a lot like…

After a fairly miserable weekend caused by Storm Clodagh, weather conditions in Ireland don’t appear as if they’re going to improve anytime soon.

The forecast for today is for persistent rain in all areas and strong southwest winds, with temperatures as low as three to six degrees in the northern half of the country and a little bit milder further south.

This morning’s rainfall radar certainly looks a little bleak to say the least.

There may be, however, some good news for those of you who get excited at the rare sight of snow falling in these parts.

Sleet or snow has been forecast for parts of Ulster, while Met Éireann issued a snow warning for Donegal yesterday evening that’s valid from 6am this morning until 12 noon today.

Up to three centimetres of snow is forecast in certain parts of the county, particularly on higher ground, so motorists in Donegal should be particularly wary when taking to the road this morning.

As for the rest of the week, let’s just say you’ll need to keep the umbrella handy as it’s not going to be pretty.
