Former Spandau Ballet star Ross Davidson has been jailed for 14 years for rape and sexual assault.
The 37-year-old who used the stage name Ross Wild performed as the singer for the famous '80s band in 2018 and starred in Queen-based West End musical We Will Rock You.
Davidson was convicted of two rapes, an attempted rape, three sexual assaults, and two charges of voyeurism, against six women between 2013 and 2019 and was sentenced today at Wood Green Crown Court in London.
The judge said Davidson had been seen by many as a charismatic, but as his career took off was "behaving to women in a wholly disgraceful manner".
At the end of January this year, the Aberdeen-born singer was found guilty of all charges brought against him by jurors at Wood Green Crown Court after almost a dozen hours of deliberation.
The singer had previously pleaded not guilty to the rape of a woman in London in March 2015 as well as the attempted rape and sexual assault of another in Thailand in December 2019.
He argued his actions were consensual, but pleaded guilty to voyeurism against the woman in Thailand after a secretly filmed video of her sleeping was found on his phone.
Following the convictions, Det Con Kamila Kedadrova, from the Metropolitan Police, described Davidson as "a prolific offender who carried out cowardly and opportunistic assaults against his victims".
Prosecutor Richard Hearnden said Davidson had been thought of as "a bit of a sex symbol" but the two women found he had "a much darker side that they did not notice, at least at first".
The women met Davidson through the dating app Tinder.
Davidson claimed all sexual activity he engaged in was consensual.
The rape victim from the incident in 2015 told the jury she woke to find Davidson assaulting her while she slept at his London home.
She told how Davidson had expressed the idea of sex with "a person in a helpless state, someone not moving".
Davidson described himself as "sex positive", explaining that for him the term meant having "open dialogue" and being "open-minded about people's predilections".
In the 2019 case in Thailand, detectives discovered a video on Davidson's phone showing the victim being touched while "asleep, still and unresponsive" and "at least half-naked".
The victim said she had no idea the footage existed previously.
Davidson denied sexual assault and attempted rape, but pleaded guilty to voyeurism.
He said he created the video for "selfish reasons, for sexual gratification" and wished he "had never done it".
