The west and midlands are set to see the worst of it.

Friday will see the whole country showered with rain at some point, as a Status Yellow rainfall warning has been issued for the whole country.

According to Met Éireann, “high intensity rainfall” and “heavy thundery downpours” are to be expected all day Friday. Because of this, there will be a risk of localised spot flooding, with the western half of the country and the midlands most at risk.

The rainfall warning is valid from Friday 8 June at 12pm – Friday 8 June at 9pm.

Aside from that, Friday is set to follow in the footsteps of the week and promise high temperatures with hazy sunshine also forecast. The east and south are expected to stay quite dry throughout the day, with maximum temperatures of 20 – 24 degrees expected.

Coastal regions with sea breezes will be cooler.

Friday night will see the day’s showers will largely die out. A few mist or fog patches will develop inland, with minimum temperatures of between 10 – 13 degrees forecast.

The weekend is expected to be warm too, especially in the southern half of the country with “a good deal of dry weather” expected, alongside some scattered showers.

“Any showers will largely die away and it will be mostly dry, with clear spells, but patches of mist and fog will form, with slack winds,” according to the national forecaster.

The warmest weather is forecast in both Leinster and Munster, with light north to northeast breezes. Overnight lows of 8 – 12 degrees are forecast, with some mist or fog patches likely.

However, the end of the Leaving Cert weather might be nigh – as reports state that the weather is set to become cooler and far more changeable from midweek next week.
