A freeze is upon us…
Get that electric blanket ready – a Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning has officially been issued for the whole country by the national forecaster.
Met Éireann says to expect widespread sharp frost with icy stretches amidst lowest temperatures of -3 degrees in many areas.
This, the forecaster warns, could lead to some travel disruption.
The warning comes into effect from 7pm on Tuesday (4 January) and will remain in place until 10am on Wednesday morning.
A separate Status Yellow ice warning has been issued for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.
This warning also notes that icy stretches may cause travel issues and is in place from 5pm on Tuesday until 9am on Wednesday.
The Road Safety Authority of Ireland (RSA) has urged drivers to take care on the roads in accordance with the warning.
