Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning which is currently in effect for 11 counties. The alert is set to be valid until 9pm on Tuesday (4 July) and applies to Carlow, Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow. According to the Irish meteorological service, there is a "moderate chance of thunderstorms" on Tuesday afternoon and evening, as well as a "possibility of hail". The possible impacts of such weather are listed as "spot flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions."Meanwhile, Met Éireann's national forecast says Wednesday will see a mix of showers and spells of sunshine. "Some showers will turn heavy at times in the afternoon, not as heavy as previous days though. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, coolest in Atlantic coastal areas, in moderate to fresh westerly winds," it states. The meteorological service's outlook for the rest of the week also reads: "Remaining very unsettled but turning warmer late in the week and for the weekend."
