Thunderstorm warning Ireland

You have been warned…

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for 21 counties over flooding fears.

The warning is valid until Wednesday at 10pm and has been issued for the provinces of Leinster and Munster, as well as the counties Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan.

Met Éireann has said people in these areas can expect scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with a risk of hail and localised spot flooding.

While the warning is set to be lifted tonight, Met Éireann’s forecast says there will be widespread showers tomorrow afternoon, many of which will be heavy and of hail.

There will also be more thunderstorms too, as well as a risk of spot flooding, especially in parts of the midlands, north and east.

According to the forecaster, weather conditions will remain unsettled this week and next, with a mix of showers and sunny spells every day.

Temperatures will also be slightly below what is considered normal for the month of May.
