The warning was issued on Tuesday evening.

It’s September, and that means summer has officially ended.

And while we had bits of nice weather here and there over the past couple of weeks, we’ve also had a seemingly endless amount of rain and wind warnings issued all across the country.

Well, you know what they say, start as you mean to go on, and that’s exactly what’s happening with the weather in September.

A Status Yellow rain warning has been issued for four counties across Ireland.

Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo will be the counties affected, and it will be in place from 5am on Wednesday until 5pm on the same day.

Met Éireann has said to expect 25 to 35mm of rainfall in those counties, and that localised spot flooding is possible.

So that plan you had to go on a jog in the morning? Cancel it.

As we look ahead to the rest of the week, Met Éireann has said to expect it to be quite breezy on Thursday, in a moderately fresh day, that will be occasionally gusty, with southwest wind with sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers will be most frequent in the west of the country.
