Investigations are ongoing.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for reportedly making a terror threat at a school in Dublin.

According to the Irish Independent, the teenager is reported to have made two 999 calls claiming to have plans to blow up the school building and to attack other students; the student is also reported to have claimed that he was working on behalf of Isil.

Armed Gardaí attended the scene on Clogher Road, Dublin 12 on Thursday afternoon and arrested the young man at around 1.40pm.

The young man was questioned for making the threatening phone calls and is expected to be diverted to a Garda Juvenile Diversion Programme if he is deemed suitable for it.

It’s understood by Gardaí that the male teenager does not have any links to the terror group and may be suffering from psychological issues. He and his mother are fully co-operating with the investigation.

In a statement to JOE, A Garda spokesperson confirmed that “a male (15 years) was arrested on Clogher Road, Dublin 12, yesterday afternoon Thursday 19 April and taken to Sundrive Road GS where he was detained under Section 4, CJA and later released”.

“A file will be prepared for the office of the DPP,” the statement continued.

“Investigations ongoing.”
