Study shows that men think their male classmates are smarter than women… even when that isn’t true

This is surprising because all of our mates are definitely eejits…

A study of 1,7000 students in America has yielded results that suggest men find their fellow male students to be smarter than women even when things like grade-point averages say the opposite.

Research conducted by the University of Washington asked men to identify the smartest and best-performing students in their class, and found that men tend to give other men a ‘boost.’

According to the research, a woman with a 3.75 GPA would have the same chance of being nominated as the smartest in the class as a man who had a GPA of 3.00.

Gender did not seem to be a factor in who the female students selected as the smartest in the class, leading the researchers to conclude that the men were exhibiting nineteen times more gender bias than the women.

The researchers speculated as to the reasons behind this, suggesting that men may do this because male students are more likely to speak up in class, or because male grades were higher overall.
