Summer back for one last hurrah as temperatures set to soar this weekend

As if we weren’t already spoiled enough by the weather in the last few months, the warm temperatures are set to return for one last hurrah this weekend.

It might look a bit ropey if you’ve looked out the window at any stage today and feared for the wintry conditions heading our way for the next few months, but don’t pack up those barbies or put the speedos in storage for another year just yet. Actually on second thought, do put those speedos in storage… and never take them out again.

According to the Irish Independent, temperatures will be in the high teens and early 20s this weekend and there won’t be much of a breeze either, with the fine spell potentially lasting into the middle of the next week.

“It’s good news. It looks like the weekend is going to be lovely,” RTÉ weather forecaster Evelyn Cusack told the Irish Independent.

“Sunday should be fine, pleasant with light winds and the temperatures will be as high as 20 degrees.

“The start of next week looks pleasant too, there is some fine autumn weather on the way.”

The Met Eireann website predicts that the dry spell will start on Friday and though they say there is some dreaded ‘uncertainty’, they predict warm and sunny weather for early next week too.

The weather forecast is great news for the 82,000 or so Mayo and Dublin fans heading along to the All-Ireland Football Final this weekend, while it gives everyone else the chance to top up those fading farmers’ tans until the middle of October at least.
