Suspect in Stockholm lorry attack arrested by police

Alan Loughnane

The attack took place on Friday afternoon.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the Stockholm lorry attack, with local reports claiming the person was arrested in Marsta, north of the Swedish capital.

The Aftonbladet newspaper reported that the person arrested was a man, and he has confessed to carrying out the truck attack in the city centre which left four people dead and 15 injured.

Earlier today, police released a photo of a suspect wearing a green jacket, grey hoodie and white shoes who they were seeking in connection with the attack.

But police haven’t confirmed if the man arrested is the same one shown in the image released.

Police said earlier that they were questioning two people in connection with the attack.

“I can confirm that we have taken in two people for questioning, but that does not necessary mean that they are suspects,” a police spokesman said.

“We want to talk to everybody who knows anything about this and sometimes it’s better to talk at the police station than place of event,” he said.
