The National Transport Authority has confirmed that the maximum taxi fare in Ireland will increase next year.

The NTA Board met on September 15 to consider the recent Taxi Fares Review. The Board approved the proposed increase in the maximum taxi fare by an average of 3.22%, to take effect on 01 February 2018.

The existing initial charge of €3.60 during daylight hours will increase to €3.80, while the premium rate will increase from €4 to €4.20.

In accordance with section 24 of the consolidated Taxi Regulation Acts 2013 and 2016, a consultation process is must be undertaken in relation to any proposed maximum fares order.

This involves public advertisement, publication of the proposals, a submissions period and consultation with prescribed parties. Each of these requirements have been complied with over the past number of months.

Below are the existing fares.

Here are the new fares which will come into effect in February 2018.
