Praise the Lord! Ted Fest is coming to Dublin at the end of March

Michael Lanigan

“We’re all going to heaven lads, wahey!”

Ted Fest will be leaving Innishmore and hitting the Big Shmoke from 31 March to 2 April.

The festival devoted to the Lord and all things Father Ted is finally re-attaching Craggy Island to the mainland as it makes its debut in Dublin city.

Included among the events is an attempt at setting a world record for the Largest Gathering of Characters From Father Ted, which will be officially recognised on Saturday 31 March, followed by the Lovely Ladies Competition at the Cellar Bar at The Church Bar and Restaurant.

The competition will be judged by a panel of guest celebrity judges and experts, with 10 Lovely Ladies facing off to be crowned ‘Dublin’s Lovely Lady’ upon completion of five categories; ironing a pair of trousers, making a cup of tea in 30 seconds, peeling a spud, balancing an egg on a spoon while “effortlessly sashaying” around traffic cones and rapping/singing/dancing a decade of the Rosary.

The Lovely Lady of 2018 will also receive a voucher for a lovely Thai meal with Niamh Connolly.

Then, on Sunday 1 April, you’ll be able to test your intensive knowledge at a Father Ted Quiz, which is being run in association with stand-up comedian and actor, Joe Rooney, AKA Father Damo, while also getting to experience some of the Funland attractions you might have missed, including “Freak Pointing”.

Further details are set to be announced.
