Teenage girl in critical condition after swimming incident in Louth

She’s believed to be in critical condition.

A teenage girl has been hospitalised after getting into difficulty while swimming near Termonfeckin, Co. Louth.

After the girl got into difficulty, coastguard lifeboats were deployed from Skerries and Clogherhead in a search and rescue operation, as well as a coastguard helicopter. The girl was recovered from the water by helicopter and brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

RTÉ is reporting that the girl is now in critical condition.

Temperatures have reached a high for 2019 today and Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring has warned swimmers to be “vigilant” while swimming outdoors.
