Teenager in critical condition after car hits tree in Cork

The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A teenager is in critical condition following a single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred in Cork on Tuesday, 28 June.

The incident took place at approximately 12.20am on the R586 Dunmanway Road in Dromovane, Enniskeane when the vehicle left the road and hit trees and foliage.

The driver, a 19-year-old male, was removed from the scene and taken to Cork University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

As of midday on Tuesday afternoon, the road remains closed so that a technical examination may be carried out by Collision Forensic Investigators. Local diversions have been put in place.

Gardaí in Bandon are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – and were travelling on the Bandon to Enniskeane Road between midnight and 12.30am on Tuesday morning are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
