Teenager killed and another seriously injured following Kerry road crash

Very sad news.

A teenager has been killed and another has been seriously injured following a single vehicle collision in Kerry.

The collision occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning on the Ross Road near Killarney.

The driver of the car, a male youth in his teens, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger in the car, also a male youth in his teens, was taken to Kerry University Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.

According to RTÉ, it is understood that both boys are aged 14.

The scene remains closed this morning to allow for a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Killarney on 064 6671160 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

The matter has also been referred to Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission as the vehicle had been subject to an interaction with Gardaí prior to the collision.
