Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.

A male teenage pedestrian has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a jeep in Offaly on Thursday afternoon.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the road traffic collision that occurred at around 2:15pm on Church Road in Tullamore.

A Garda spokesperson said the pedestrian has been taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore with “serious injuries”.

The driver of the jeep was uninjured.

The road is currently closed and the scene is being examined by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward,” the Garda spokesperson said in a statement.

“Gardaí are also appealing to any road users that may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at this time to make this footage available to Gardaí.
