Temperatures to top 20 degrees next week while we could see a heatwave next weekend

It’s all up in the air at the minute, but it looks promising.

Temperatures next week are set to rise into the 20s early in the week but could climb even higher towards the weekend.

This is due to high pressure building across the week and as a result, it’s expected the temperatures will steadily rise as well.

Met Éireann has said Monday will be a bright day with a mix of sunny spells and a few passing showers. Highest temperatures will range 17 to 21 degrees, warmest in the east of the country in moderate northwest breezes.

Tuesday looks set to be a mostly dry day with plenty of cloud but also some sunny spells, with highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees.

While Wednesday will bring a mix of cloud and sunshine, however it will be mostly dry across the country apart from the odd shower along Atlantic coasts and it will be warm with top temperatures of between 19 and 21 degrees.

After Wednesday, a bit more uncertainty arrises, but the preliminary outlook suggests that Ireland could be in for even warmer weather.

“As high pressure builds, there is a potential for some very warm weather on Thursday, Friday or Saturday,” Met Éireann forecaster Gerry Murphy told the Irish Times.

“We could be looking at 27 degrees by next Friday or Saturday.”

However, as with all long range forecasts, this could be subject to change but it could come to fruition if the high pressure builds as it’s currently expected.

UK forecasters are predicting temperatures in the mid twenties next weekend and are promising warmer and dryer weather than average for July and August.
