After being clumsily knocked to the ground by two mischievous muppets back in May of this year, the crackin’-looking bronze statue of Phil Lynott has thankfully been restored to both its former glory and its former spot on Harry Street, Dublin.
Well, maybe after being fully repaired, “crackin’” is not the word to be using to describe it. Check out the previous damage here:
While off being repaired over the past number of months, someone brilliantly installed this informative sign outside of the front of Bruxelles pub, for the tourists and the such and the like…
Thankfully though, all’s well that ends well.
The statue of the Thin Lizzy frontman was originally erected in 2005 where it was unveiled by the lead singer’s mother, Philomena. Fittingly, Mama Lynott was on hand again today to re-unveil Paul Daly’s fully-restored art work for all to admire/get drunken photos with/worship at the feet of.
Here’s the great lady herself speaking very passoinately and eloquently at the unveiling earlier today, paying tribute to her son Philo, one of this country’s greatest ever musicians.
She also gives him a hearty slap on the back – careful there Philomena…
Welcome home Phil.
Hat-tip to Niall O’Keefe for the excellent footage.
