The concert organisers have issued a statement about the on-stage incident.

A concert by The Coronas this weekend has had to be cancelled and rescheduled after the guitarist, Lar Kaye, fell ill on stage.

The Irish band were set to play a sold-out show at King's John Castle in Limerick last night (Friday, 29 May).

According to multiple outlets, minutes after the 'San Diego Song' group began performing at the event, Kaye suffered a medical emergency, with medics rushing to his aid.

Frontman Danny O'Reilly later returned to the stage to provide fans with an update, stating that he had just spoken with the guitarist.

The singer said it did not "feel right" continuing to perform until they knew their bandmate was okay and that the gig would be rescheduled.

In a video posted by Limerick Live, O'Reilly can be heard saying: "First of all, we really appreciate you being here tonight and hanging around, and we want to keep going and do the show, but until we know 100% that Lar is okay, it just doesn't feel right.

“I did speak to Lar a minute ago and, you know, he’s a bit shook, and he's embarrassed that everyone saw him... But as I say, until we get the all-clear... we were talking about it, it just wouldn't feel right for us being up here trying to sing music when we don't know what’s going on.

"We're going to know for sure on Monday when... We want Lar to be on stage with us when we come back, and we'll know the date for sure. It's looking like it's going to be either the 10 or 11 of July.

"Hopefully that suits you guys to come back and join us, and if it doesn't, we'll be back again. We really appreciate your patience and understanding, and we love yous loads. We are so sorry about this. Thank you so much.”

In a statement after the incident, concert organisers Dolans Presents said: "Tonight’s performance in King John's Castle has had to be cancelled due to a member of the band being ill.

"We will be rescheduling the show, and all ticket holders will be contacted in due course.

"We thank you for your patience, and we can’t wait to welcome The Coronas back to Limerick when all is well."
