The Simpsons' writer Steve Pepoon has died unexpectedly at the age of 68.
Pepoon, who won an Emmy for his work on the legendary show, also co-created the Nickelodeon show The Wild Thornberrys.
He died unexpectedly earlier this month on 3 May outside of his home in Paola, Kansas.
For the last two years, Pepoon had been in treatment for a heart condition called cardiac amyloidosis.
Amyloidosis is a rare condition where a protein builds up in the body.
While the condition cannot be cured, there are treatments available that can help with symptoms.
Aside from his work on The Simpsons, Pepoon also worked on ALF, It's Garry Shandling's Show, Get A Life, and Ferris Bueller.
The episode of The Simpsons that won the writer his Emmy was 'Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment', which was part of the second season.
It sees Homer get an illegal cable hookup, much to the chagrin of his daughter Lisa, who believes this is stealing.
The episode marked the first appearances of recurring Simpsons characters Troy McClure and Drederick Tatum.
