After taking a bit of a battering in the last few days we’re going to get some relief from the stormy weather, but be careful on the roads due to the risk of black ice.

The forecast for the weekend is a lot better than some of what we’ve had to put up with for the last few days, with Met Eireann predicting a bright day today with a mix of sunny spells and showers, with parts of the west and north most susceptible to rain and possibly even hail and thunder.

The day will start off cold and frosty and AA Roadwatch have issued warnings about black ice on roads in practically every part of the country so far this morning, so if you are hitting the road today, be sure to take the necessary precautionary measures and be careful at all times.

Temperatures will increase throughout the day but are set to drop to between -2 and +2 tonight, possibly even more so in parts of the southeast, so treacherous road conditions are likely once again.

Sunday is set to be a lot milder due to clouds building on Sunday morning, which, unfortunately, is likely to lead to heavy rain throughout the country, although winds will be moderate at best.

Not a fantastic forecast but certainly getting better and at least the rainfall radar is looking a little healthier for the time being at least.
