There has been another bomb hoax in Limerick

Paul Moore

The building is now safe.

There has been another bomb scare in Limerick after the Ulster Bank branch on O’Connell Street had to be evacuated this afternoon.

It’s the second hoax in as many days following yesterday’s incident at Milford National School where more than 500 pupils and teachers had to be evacuated after reports of a suspicious device in the school.

Regarding today’s scare, the Gardaí arrived at the building shortly before 4 o’clock. They were alerted after a female made a threatening call to Henry Street Garda Station informing them that there was a bomb at the bank.

Following a search of the premises, it was declared to be a hoax and the building was declared to be safe. Investigations are underway regarding both incidents.
