There’s great weather on the way this month, but the summer will be colder and wetter say forecasters

If the folks at Exacta Weather are to be believed, we better enjoy the remainder of May.

If the folks at Exacta Weather are to be believed, we better enjoy the remainder of May.

After last summer’s glorious weather we are all hoping that 2014 will be equally warm, sunny and Mediterranean. Sadly, if a report in the Mirror is correct, it looks like Summer 2014 will be more like a normal Irish summer; a bit crap.

They spoke to James Madden, a meteorologist with Exacta Weather who they say predicted last summer’s brilliant weather. And what do Exacta have to say about this summer?

“As we progress throughout the remainder of May, a more notable period of widespread and sustained warmer weather conditions is likely to develop, in particular from the middle part of the month.

“There will be lengthy sunshine for many parts of Ireland throughout this period, with warmer than average temperatures.

That’s great news, but we sensed a but and here it comes…

The remainder of the summer will be a “colder and wetter” season, with only patches of settled weather between June and August. He also added that “It will be a more near-average summer in terms of overall temperatures and overall rainfall amounts.”

In fairness, an average summer would probably be acceptable, but we had our fingers crossed for a repeat of last year.

Time will tell…
