Weather warning

The weekend isn’t looking good.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather advisory for the whole of Ireland as the adverse conditions look set to continue throughout the country.

The warning was issued at 10am on Thursday 13 December and it’s in effect from Saturday 15 December until midnight on Sunday.

People are being told that there’s “potential for severe weather” and that these “hazardous conditions may result from heavy rain, and possibly wind, also.”

Aside from this, a status yellow rainfall warning has also been issued for Waterford and east Cork.

That particular warning was raised at 10am is valid until Thursday 13 December at 6pm.

Due to the outbreaks of rain that are expected today, this could lead to spot flooding in those aforementioned areas, with the highest accumulations in mountainous areas.

These two warnings follow on from a similar status yellow wind warning that was raised for Wexford, Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

Southeasterly winds in those areas are expected to reach speeds between 50 and 65km/h at times, with gusts between 90 and 100 km/h.

Thankfully, the warning in those four counties is only in place until 2pm on Thursday.

Take care if you’re out and about.
