Those winds mean business and thousands of people have been affected.
It is estimated that over 13,000 businesses and homes have woken up to power outages after Storm Gertrude hit Ireland hard overnight.
Wind warnings of 130 km/h had been issued by Met Éireann and, according to RTÉ, ESB are claiming a host of power cuts this morning in Achill in Co Mayo, Killeshandra in Co Cavan and Kilcoole in Co Wicklow.
Status Orange warnings were in place from midnight last night for several counties, including; Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Longford, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford.
Meanwhile, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Roscommon, Limerick and Tipperary all received Status Yellow – slightly less urgent – warnings.
Both statuses are in place until 9am this morning.
