Three men arrested in connection with fatal assault in Kildare last month

The three men are all in their early 20s.

Three men have been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into a fatal assault in Kildare last month.

Shortly after 12.30am on Sunday, 21 August, Gardaí and emergency services attended at Dublin Street in Monasterevin following reports of an altercation involving a group of people at the entrance of a premises.

29-year-old Dylan McCarthy was found unresponsive at the scene and was taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital, before passing away the following day.

His father was also hospitalised for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí arrested the three men, all in their early 20s, in connection with the fatal assault on Tuesday (6 September).

They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at multiple Garda Stations in Kildare.
