Awful news.

A father-of-two has tragically died following an incident at a farm in Kerry.

Garrett Dee, who was 66, was from Carrig Island, Ballylongford.

His family are said to be well known in the area as they run a local bed and breakfast.

It's believed that the incident happened just before midnight on Friday as Mr Dee was helping a cow with the delivery of twin calves.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but Mr Dee was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

A death notice shared on RIP.ie states: "The death has occurred of Garrett Dee of Carrig Island, Ballylongford, Co. Kerry.

"Predeceased by his parents, Jet and Anna. Beloved husband of Patricia, dearly loved father of Samantha and Gerard. Deeply regretted by his brothers Donie and Peter, sister Mary, sisters-in-law Maura and Susan, brother-in-law Patrick, nieces Chloe, Celine and Aoife, nephew James, Patricia’s family in Glenbeigh, relatives, neighbours, and many friends."

Michael Healy-Rae, who is the local TD, commented on Mr Dee's death saying: "Deepest sympathy to Patricia and all the Dee and extended families. I’m very sorry for your heartbreaking loss at this very difficult time."
